Traffic Standards -- Coordinates development of traffic engineering
policies, guidelines, standards, procedures, and the related publications,

(based on national standards) establishes traffic control standards for all
public highway in Ohio, and ODOT's supplement to that manual, the Traffic
Engineering Manual (TEM). Standards also maintains
historical records, including a centralized electronic file of Traffic
Regulations (speed zones, school zones, no parking zones, and village signal
permits) for all ODOT districts and a listing of memorialized highways and
bridges; provides background information and interpretations upon
request; coordinates ODOT responses to federal Dockets and AASHTO ballots
related to
traffic control standards; distributes information from FHWA; publishes other
traffic engineering related publications; and provides technical assistance and
training as needed.
Signals -- Helps develop
statewide signals standards and guidelines for the OMUTCD. Develops policies, standards,
guidelines and specifications for the design, construction, operation and
maintenance of ODOT's traffic signal installations; evaluates new and existing
signal related products and materials; coordinates signal related
research; develops signal material term purchase contracts; and provides
technical assistance and training as
needed.
Lighting -- Develops policies, standards,
guidelines and specifications for the design, construction, operation and
maintenance of ODOT's highway lighting installations; evaluates new and existing
lighting related products and materials; and provides
technical assistance and training as
needed.
Signing -- Helps develop
statewide signing standards and guidelines for the OMUTCD. Develops policies, standards,
guidelines and specifications for the design, fabrication, construction, operation and
maintenance of ODOT's signing installations; evaluates new and existing signing
related products and materials; coordinates signing related
research; determine the suitability of flashing
arrow panels and portable changeable message signs; develops signing material term purchase contracts; and provides
technical assistance and training as
needed.
Markings -- Helps develop
statewide marking standards and guidelines for the OMUTCD. Develops policies, standards,
guidelines and specifications for the design, construction, operation and
maintenance of ODOT's marking installations; evaluates new and existing pavement
markings materials, delineators, barrier reflectors and object markers; coordinates signing related
research; determine the suitability of flashing
arrow panels and portable changeable message signs; develops term purchase contracts
for pavement markings, delineators, barrier reflectors and object markers; and provides
