Warren Crossing Gets Safety Upgrade

Pine Avenue Crossing To Get Gates

(Columbus) – The City of Warren’s Pine Avenue grade crossing with the Warren & Trumbull Railroad will get the addition of safety gates to its existing flashing warning lights.  The Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) has authorized installation of the gates.

“At a time when many Ohio roads are seeing increased vehicular traffic, the addition of safety gates gives both motorists and train crews a greater degree of safety at grade crossings”, says ORDC Executive Director James Seney.

ORDC has upgraded safety devices at over 1,000 grade crossings since the mid-1990's, including new flashing lights, gates, smoother roadway surfaces and state-of-the-art electronics that adjust the operation of the lights and gates to the speed of the approaching train.

(The Ohio Rail Development Commission is an independent agency operating within the Ohio Department of Transportation.  ORDC is responsible for economic development through the improvement and expansion of passenger and freight rail service, railroad grade crossing safety and rail travel & tourism issues.
