ORDC Welcomes New Commissioner

North Canton=s Barbara Hammontree Bennett Named By Gov. Taft

 

(Columbus) C North Canton resident Barbara Hammontree Bennett has been appointed by Ohio Governor Bob Taft to serve on the Ohio Rail Development Commission.  Ms. Hammontree fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Canton Mayor Janet Weir Creighton earlier this year.

 

Bennett is a Professional Engineer and Surveyor and a partner in the North Canton firm of Hammontree & Associates, where she currently serves as Manager of Land Development Engineering.  She is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.

 

She is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, Ohio Society of Professional Engineers and American Society of Civil Engineers, among other professional organizations, and has extensive experience project management, design and engineering on residential, industrial, commercial and public sector projects.

 

AMs. Bennett=s area of expertise is certainly an asset to the Commission@, says ORDC Executive Director Jim Seney. AShe has used her engineering skills in virtually every area of real estate and business development that we also deal with in developing Ohio=s railroads and the economic development they help create.@

 

Ms. Bennett will formally join the Commission at their next regular meeting, scheduled for January 12th, 2006.
