ORDC Names New Public Information Officer

RDC is proud to announce that veteran broadcast news reporter Stu Nicholson has been named as the Commission’s first-ever, full-time Public Information Officer. Stu’s responsibilities will include being the primary point of contact for both the news media and spokesperson for the Commission.

Stu’s experience includes over 20 years in television and radio news as a reporter in Iowa, Nebraska and Ohio. His most recent position was as Interim Bureau Chief for Ohio Public Radio’s Statehouse News Bureau in Columbus. He has won numerous awards for his writing and reporting, including an Emmy nomination for general news reporting.

Stu has also spent considerable time on the other side of the microphones, cameras and reporter notepads. He has served as Public Relations Specialist and Corporate Communications Director for the Central Ohio Transit Authority, Administrative Director for the Ohio Association of Railroad Passengers, Resource Development Director for The Open Shelter and has taught broadcast journalism as The Ohio State University School of Journalism.

He is a 1974 graduate of Central Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science. He also has done graduate work toward a Masters in Mass Communications at CMSU.

Stu lives in the Clintonville area of Columbus with his wife and two teenage daughters. He coaches girls fast-pitch softball in his spare time and is an avid baseball fan. He also collects railroad antiques, baseball cards and enjoys reading, photography, cooking and bicycling.
