Licking County Railroad Crossing Improvement

James E. Seney, Executive Director of the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) requested today that the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) direct Ohio Central Railroad install lights and gates at the SR79 railroad/highway grade crossings in Licking County.

The ORDC works with the PUCO to streamline railroad safety projects with installations completed within one year. The ORDC distributes $15,000,000 in federal highway funds annually to improve safety at Ohio’s rail grade crossings.

Mr. Seney, said this crossing is being improved as part of highway widening project conducted by the Ohio Department of Transportation. The ORDC in conjunction with ODOT will install a new surface and light and gate installation funded by the ORDC.
