OHIO RAIL DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: May 2, 2002 Railroad Crossing Improvements James E. Seney, Executive Director of the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) requested today that the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) direct CSX Transportation to install lights and gates at 19 railroad/highway grade crossings on their mainline track through Huron, Ashland, Medina and Wayne Counties. The ORDC works with the PUCO to streamline railroad safety projects with installations completed within one year. The ORDC distributes $15,000,000 in federal highway funds annually to improve safety at Ohio’s rail grade crossings. Mr. Seney, said these crossings being improved as part of a corridor program conducted by the ORDC in cooperation with CSXT Railroad. This particular corridor project will result in safety improvements at the railroad/highway grade crossings listed below
