Railroad Crossing Improvements in Delaware County

James E. Seney, Executive Director of the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) requested today that the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) direct CSX Transportation to install lights and gates at ten (10) railroad/highway grade crossings on a rail corridor that runs north and south through Delaware County.

The ORDC works with the PUCO to streamline railroad safety projects with installations completed within one year. The ORDC distributes $15,000,000.00 in federal highway funds annually to improve safety at Ohio's rail grade crossings.

Mr. Seney, said these installations are being improved as part of a corridor program conducted by the ORDC in cooperation with the Delaware County Railroad Safety Task Force and CSX Transportation. The improvements are the result of the state and local communities working to together to identify potentially hazardous crossings in the area. This particular corridor project will result in safety improvements at the following railroad/highway grade crossings.
