The Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) today approved $994,556 in grants and loans for three rail projects.

James E. Seney, ORDC executive director, said the projects will create 68 jobs and help preserve 1,055 other jobs.

Approved were:

A $496,056 grant to the R.J. Corman Railroad Company to rebuild the bridge over Chippewa Creek on its Uhrichsville to Warwick line. The line serves nine major shippers employing 1,017 people. The project will create 38 jobs.

A $328,000 loan to Cloverleaf Cold Storage to build a 1,300-foot rail spur to serve its new warehouse in Massillon.

An additional grant of $85,250 and a loan of the same amount to the City of Jackson to remove quicksand to complete the construction of a 3,000-foot rail spur to the American Warehousing warehouse.

"These projects all represent sound investments for the ORDC," said ORDC Chairman James E. Betts.
