The Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) today approved $994,556 in grants
and loans for three rail projects.
James E. Seney, ORDC executive director, said the projects will create 68
jobs and help preserve 1,055 other jobs.
Approved were:
A $496,056 grant to the R.J. Corman Railroad Company to rebuild the
bridge over Chippewa Creek on its Uhrichsville to Warwick line. The line
serves nine major shippers employing 1,017 people. The project will create
38 jobs.
A $328,000 loan to Cloverleaf Cold Storage to build a 1,300-foot rail
spur to serve its new warehouse in Massillon.
An additional grant of $85,250 and a loan of the same amount to the City
of Jackson to remove quicksand to complete the construction of a 3,000-foot
rail spur to the American Warehousing warehouse.
"These projects all represent sound investments for the ORDC," said
ORDC Chairman James E. Betts.
