Ohio Rail Development Commission Thursday, Sept 13, 2001 The Ohio Rail Development Commission today awarded the R.J. Corman Railroad Company a $496,056 grant to rebuild the bridge over Chippewa Creek on its Uhrichsville to Warwick line. James E. Seney, ORDC executive director, said the steel girders and other steel elements on the bridge are in poor condition and threaten its structural integrity. Corman serves nine major shippers on the line: Bakers Warehouse, Dover Chemical, Clarion Warehouse, Marlite, Marsh Lumber, National Lime & Stone, Smurfit Stone Container, Arizona Chemical, and AMKO. Seney said that 1,017 jobs are dependent upon the line and that 38 new jobs are expected to be created within a year. The improvement will be paid for with federal funds administered by the ORDC. "This project is a good investment," said ORDC Chairman James E. Betts. |
