The Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) today approved a loan of $328,000 to Cloverleaf Cold Storage to construct a 1,300-foot rail spur to serve its new warehouse in Massillon.

James E. Seney, ORDC executive director, said the warehouse represents a $7 million investment by Cloverleaf, the country’s 15th largest public refrigerated company. Seney said the 140,000 square-foot facility has committed to create 30 jobs.

Seney said Cloverleaf will receive 1,140 carloads within three years. Norfolk Southern Railway, Inc., will provide service. In addition to the ORDC grant, the Ohio Department of Development is providing Cloverleaf a $350,000 loan and $30,000 for road improvements and the City of Massillon and the Stark County Development Board are providing a 10-year - 75% tax abatement.

"We believe this is a worthwhile project," said James E. Betts, ORDC Chairman.
