INFORMATION
TO ERECT AN ADVERTISING DEVICE
Please refer to
the link of the Ohio Revised Code and the Ohio Administrative
Code for details on erecting advertising devices in the State
of Ohio.
The following
information is required to process all permit applications:
1. Each sign
face requires a separate permit, therefore an application per
sign face must be completed. For exceptions, refer to Section
5501-2-2-05, Paragraph (B) (2) (3) (4).
2. Applications
must be completed in their entirety.
3. All
applications must be notarized.
4. All
signatures and notarizations must be original.
5. Each location
of proposed site must be staked.
To expedite the
issuance of your permit, you may submit the following:
1. A copy of the
right-of-way plan for the sign location with the sign’s
precise location identified on the plan copy in relationship
to the right-of- way,
2. For an
unzoned commercial/industrial area as defined in Section
5516.01 Paragraph I of the Ohio Revised Code.
3. List the name
of the business and its address
AND
4. Indicate the
business on the sketch and the exact measurement to the sign
location from the building, parking lot, storage or processing
area
AND
5. Provide a
property map of the business property indicating frontage
adjacent to the highway.
6. Sketch of the
sign identifying its dimensions, material construction, and
message if pertinent for sign classification.
7. A copy of a
tax map identifying the property and current landowner at the
sign location.
8. A copy of the
highway construction plans at the sign location, if the sign
will be located in close proximity to an interchange area
whose pavement narrowing and widening at entrances and exits
to the main traveled way are not easily discernible at the
site. The specific sign location should be identified on the
construction plans.
Highway
right-of-way and construction plans can be obtained at
District ODOT offices throughout the state.
In addition to
expediting the issuance of your permit, this information will
provide you with insight into the legality of your sign
location before you expend your funds for the non- refundable
application fee. |
