This section recommends minimum documentation and critical inspection requirements for Items 203, 204, 205, 206, 804, 208, and 209.  All of the following documentation requirements must be recorded in the project daily reports.  References to the appropriate laws, specifications, and proposals and plan notes or details for all the inspector reports are required.  Specifications or other requirements waived by the Project Engineer shall be noted on the daily diaries.

Item 203 Roadway Excavation and Embankment

  1. Verify plan cross sections.
  2. Cross sections of borrow site, if required.
  3. Classify suspect soils.
  4. Foundation.
  5. Lifts thickness and roller passes.
  6. Take compaction tests according to S-1015.
  7. Benching.
  8. Verify interim quantities.
  9. Verify final cross sections.

Item 204 Subgrade Compaction and Proof Rolling

  1. Compaction according to S-1015.
  2. Verify square yardage.
  3. Verify subgrade line and grade.
  4. Proof Roll.
  5. Make corrections.
  6. Undercut measurements.

Item 205 Lime Modified Soil

  1. Check contractor design lime percentage.
  2. Verify cross sections.
  3. Lime spreading rate.
  4. Lift thickness and roller passes.
  5. Compaction according to S-1015.
  6. Final cross sections.

Item 206 Lime Stabilized Subgrade

  1. Check Contractor design lime percentage.
  2. Verify subgrade line and grade.
  3. Verify subgrade stability with test roller, if variable locations. 
  4. Lime spreading rate.
  5. Roller passes.
  6. Compaction according to S-1015.
  7. Fine Grading.
  8. Curing.
  9. Proof Rolling.
  10. Make Corrections.
  11. Undercut measurements.

Item 804 Cement Stabilize Subgrade

  1. Check Contractor design cement percentage.
  2. Verify subgrade line and grade.
  3. Verify subgrade stability with proof roller, if variable locations.
  4. Cement spreading rate.
  5. Roller passes.
  6. Compaction according to S-1015.
  7. Fine Grading.
  8. Curing.
  9. Proof Rolling.
  10. Make Corrections.
  11. Undercut measurements.

Item 208 Rock Blasting

  1. Accept preblast survey.
  2. Verify the experience of the Blasting Specialists.
  3. Accept and verify the blasting plan.
  4. Review the blasting area for blasting plan dimensions with the blasting consultant.
  5. Monitor the blasting consultants hours.
  6. Review the detailed blasting plan of test shots.
  7. Witness all shots.
  8. Check vibration, airblast and fly rock for all blasts.
  9. Check monitoring wells with Hydrologist.
  10. Presplit requirement.
  11. Measure presplit areas.
  12. Monitor blasting consultants hours.
  13. Review monthly blasting report.

Item 209 Linear Grading

  1. Verify plan dimensions.
  2. Verify materials.
  3. Check completed work.
  4. Measure borrow, if required.
